Hi. I recently purchased a Unaweep Divide. I found 3 pairs of removable straps:
<div>- on the back near the base, for attaching additional gear</div>
<div>- over the top of the bag connecting to the stretch pocket</div>
<div>- on the side, for clipping down the roll top</div>
<div></div>
<div>These straps total 90 g. I would like to find out if Unaweep owners find them useful. I’m currently just clipping the roll top to itself and I’m not sure if clipping to the side and then strapping over the top provides much benefit for loads around 30-35 lbs.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Thanks for the feedback.</div>

Most of the time I don’t use any of them. I do carry the over-the-top strap at all times, and deploy it when I want to lash something on top of the pack, or compress a nearly full main bag. The lower lash straps have been useful for carrying crampons.
I’ve only been out with my Divide for a couple days, but I removed the top and bottom straps beforehand and did not miss them.
I also got a larger volume pack because I like to be able to keep everything inside the pack, and really despise lashing things to the exterior.
Thanks for the feedback. Do you think the top strap would be useful when carrying a bear canister inside the pack? The pack is wider than I’m used to, so there is so room for the bear can to shift around.
Yes.
I had no movement issues carrying a bv450 in the pack, without the top y-strap, but I did retain the side/roll top straps/clips and I can imagine that helped.
I also tend to pack things in the space around the can, it doesn’t take much to minimize shifting.
