I have found Flexon frames (memory Ti) super durable so only need to protect lens from scratching… just rolled in spare socks.

Last couple of years I have just one set of eyewear which is always on my face. Progressive lens with Transitions XtrActive Polarized which go from almost clear and unpolarized to 90% light blockage which is polarized!

do those transition lenses work in the cold?

I seem to remember reading that they don’t but that could be a different version

No idea the coldest they function… but it’s below 20F.  That is the lowest I have experienced since I got them a couple of years ago. I can also say they worked well in 110F.  Ugh!

Brad, when the cases arrive from Temu, would you post the weights. BTW, I just received another of the six-ridge clamshells. This one was 24.9g, slightly heavier than the blue one in my photo.

Hi Adrian, here they are. I was a bit surprised at the weights (the gray was a slightly larger version):

Seems that the Temu six-rib clasp also from Zenni Optical is the lightest so far.

Had my eyes done, so 99% of the problem is solved. Had my vision corrected about 10 years ago, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. Now I buy cheap readers and sun glasses that can be replaced easily and just about anywhere. I used to buy the very expensive prescription regular and sun glasses so I could navigate life, then try to make them last.

After I had my eyes done it took me a while to find the right readers and sunglasses for my needs, but now I have very affordable models in each category.

At one time there was a huge difference in the optics between the high dollar brands and drugstore stuff, that gap isn’t nearly as big as it once was, and there are very affordable models that do quite well.

So, I don’t use a case and and in the rare event I damage my glasses I don’t really care that much.

Not getting up at night in a tent and fumbling around for glasses is fantastic, but the huge advantage is no fogging up from temperature changes and no rain covered lenses.

I spent a tremendous amount of time outdoors and hated not being able see well in adverse conditions, now I don’t even think about it.

So a different solution to the problem.
