I’ve always been a runner and ultralight backpacker, but I’ve recently begun to put them together for fastpacking. I’m wondering if anyone has any good fastpacking backpack suggestions. More compressed and narrow than a ultralight pack, but a little more pack space than a trailrunning pack.

for mixing in some running I’ve found the Ultimate Direction Fastpack 30 to pretty darn good- good layout of pockets on the vest portion, simple large rolltop main compartment, a zipped side entry pocket, nice stretch pockets on the side and rear. more importantly it carries nicely running
I think we had a pretty good discussion on fastpacking packs in the speed hiking/fastpack forum that’s worth checking
I’ve had a couple of 20 liter fastpacks (Montane Dragon and Osprey Rev) both carried nicely, but for anything other than an overnighter, they were shy on volume

I also like the UD Fastpack 30. I’ve been using one for over a year.
