Has anyone tried the Qwikback UL chair from LiteSmith?  I’m curious if the back is comfortable, or if it digs into the shoulders.  The Nylon part that you sit on doesn’t look quite wide enough for complete coverage, either, so I wonder if the ground is damp if you get wet around the edges.

I tried something that looks like that one (not entirely sure it was the same brand but it looked the same). It was pretty good though not super comfortable. If there’s nothing else to lean on it’s ok but the one I tried had no butt padding so isn’t really different from just leaning against a tree or something. Good for desert camping where there no trees, so smooth rocks to lean on and soft sand to sit on.

I have yet to find anything that works better than a small section of closed cell foam under the posterior that goes up your back leaned against a log or flat rock for the weight-comfort-price ratio. I bought a cheap folding pad on amazon for my dog to sleep on that does double duty.

Colin, my favorite quote was near the bottom:

I think sitting directly on sand is perfectly normal, but one thing I have learned is that when one is engaged in outdoor activities, what you think doesn’t matter if your wife has a different opinion – so we have boat chairs.

Words of wisdom from a guy who has backpacked for 50 years and also been married a lot longer than most of us.
