UHMWPE webbing instead of grosgrain?

I am curious if anyone has tried using UHMWPE/dyneema webbing instead of grosgrain for the for finishing the edges and reinforcing the edges of a tarp? The objective here is to make it a little lighter than using grosgrain. The one concern I have with this idea is a more pronounced sag with Sil Nylon since the webbing wont stretch at all, whereas grosgrain might have a little stretch to it.

For more context, I am thinking about making a tarp from 0.77 oz MTN Silnylon 6.6, finishing the edges with the webbing and bonding the ridgeline with Elastosil E41 rather then sewing it together with with webbing or grosgrain.

Seems like an expensive proposition. I would think you might have difficulty as the dyneema webbing is strong in the axial direction but not transverse due to fiber alignment. I also think the webbing would hold up better, especially in strong wind. I could be completely off Mark.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I hadn’t considered the cross strength with dyneema. I’m not sure how the webbing is woven. Do they generally have perpendicular dyneema strands or is it some other less expensive material?</p>
Price isn’t too bad though. Meyers Tech sells 30′ of 1″ dyneema webbing for $29. Granted this is over 3x the price of grosgrain ribbon, but it’s not as bad as one might expect it to be.
