hi, this is my first post here and I tried to search but I may have done that wrong. I’m trying to find a small by volume (packable) and small by weight towel for trips which involve swimming. I’m not looking for anything that needs to keep me warm or anything, but I want to be able to be dry when I put my clothes back on so that my clothes can do the work of keeping me warm. I’m not sure even what to be searching for online. I have very short hair, so I don’t even really need to towel it off, and the towel doesn’t even have to be really absorbent, just enough to kind of squeegee the water off my body and let me move on.
it would be really superb to have a fabric that resists smells, or was machine washable. my intention is to just line dry. I figure if it’s not super absorbent and it’s light it probably has a high surface area to mass ratio and would probably dry pretty rapidly.
I’m happy to repurpose something that’s nominally for another purpose and one of the closest things I could think of was a yoga towel? but mine have little rubber grip dots on them because they need that for hot/slippery studios and this doesn’t make for a great body towel.
apologies if I have misplaced this post or misused search functions. I’ve been lurking here a while but never posted. thanks in advance.

I love these towels. You might get away with their smaller towels-they work very well. I won’t backpack without one.

Apr 18, 2024 at 10:36 am #3809446I recommend the smaller lightload towel for daily swims on trips, it only weighs 0.5 oz.

No problems with reliability or odour (I pushed one to ~ 15 days). It dries quickly, faster than microfiber (it replaced the Sea to Summit Airlite in my pack) which I think helps it not get randy.
One gets me comfortably dry, but you could carry two if you’re worried and still come out way ahead.
