Hey all,

Planning to do the W trek through Torres del Paine in late September/early October. I’m a beginner backpacker (with several Blue Ridge Mt trips under my belt) and a lousy navigator! Trying to decide on either signing up for a guided trek ($$$$) vs. finding a group to tag along with :) If anyone else is interested in sharing this experience, or just sharing your knowledge of Patagonia with me, please let me know!

Thanks!

Brianna,

If you speak Spanish you’ll be fine on your own. Might be difficult if not; Patagonia is not like Europe, where most tourist-oriented locals understand English. Weather may be spotty. Plan for constant wind and daily rain showers. in October there likely will be snow in the passes. I’m jealous – the Torres del Paine is the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.

Richard
