Kudos to your wife for continuing her outdoor adventures. You are right that desert terrain poses very different circumstances for doing your ‘business’. Here in Utah many of our National Parks, river corridors heavily trafficked routes and gorgeous red rock canyons mandate human waste pack out and the use of WAG bags. These bags weigh 3 oz each and are multi-use IF you possess that type of talent. Obviously successful use of the same bag can reduce pack weight slightly and result in less bulk to pack out . I hope this product will help your wife. http://www.Trail-Bum.com
thanks Tracey! I did look on your site but was unable to find the photos you attached here. I appreciate the extra info.
Happy to help. When you click on ‘Product’ you then scroll down through all the info and pictures. I’ll verify that it’s working properly. :)
Yup, that is where I was looking. I’m guessing they are on the page where I get this error:
21 ounces/
That’s almost 600 grams, that is the same weight as my summer sleeping bag.
There must be lighter solution surely
11.5 inches front to back seems like it would accommodate women only.
Edward:
If you find another free standing sturdy multi-mode option let me know. 😀 I couldn’t find it so on the limited budget I had, this is what I was able to manufacture. With an unlimited budged-the frame would have been titanium. 😁
Dan:
I can’t speak to your anatomical needs but interestingly enough 97% of my online customers have been men. 😬. I’d just hope that if this is something that would be helpful to your outdoor experience that it would work for you. It was the largest frame size I could find in an existing collapsible design that I could install my custom straps. -Safe Adventures
Hi Tracey
Appraoching 70YO I really do find i need some sort of balance stabiliser and I am in the market but I think your product is a little heavy still. I don’t buy much gear but what I do buy needs to be as light as it can be.
I would happily pay extra to have it lighter but 10mm Easton pole sections should do it, and with strength to spare Carbon fibre is too much to expect naturally
John:
Great minds think alike…Easton poles were my first choice as a frame material (and it so happens their headquarters are 15 miles from my house) but alas, way too pricey for a one-woman show when trying to make an affordable product for resale. As is, the product is perfect for kayak use, but I am still working on an even lighter design for backpacking. That said, even with my Trail Bum in my pack plus 2 liters of water and food for 3 days, I’m still sitting at 24 pounds, which is a miracle for this ‘comfort’ backpacker.
