Does anyone else use the Soto ThermoStack lid with their Toaks 550ml mug (or other 95mm diameter mug/pot)? If so, how long has it held up? Any issues over time?

Interesting. Never knew about it. “Made from resilient Body-Resin”. Hmm, need more info on body resin.

No idea what body resin is, but the lid fits my Toaks 550ml mug brilliantly. It also fits my Lixada 650ml very snuggly.

Soto’s lid kit comes with a smaller lid that is the same design as the one that fits my 550ml, so I ordered a Toaks 375ml mug. I think it should be a good fit.

If I knew how to add pics on these threads, I’d post some. The lids are brilliant and way better than the clunky, noisy lids that come with Ti mugs/pots.

I figured out how to add pics (FYI – rotate iPhone to landscape view to access the camera icon in the pop-up window after you click on the images icon).

The lid has a rubber seal/gasket around the inner lip so it fits very well, it doesn’t leak at all, and it stays put (like it was made for it). And it weighs 1g less than the Toaks lid… Craziness, I tell ya!

JG, nice. Where’d you buy it from? I’d like to pick one up…

I have the original Thermostack that has a smaller lid. A stray gust of wind has caused the flame to climb the side and melt one of the little grabber handles on the edge. The lid still works great and is nice as a sipper lid. I hope the wider pot and lid will help mitigate that because those grabber handles are all you have to lift the lid and they work well with the Soto pot grabbers.

@ Dustin

Good info! I didn’t even think about heat climbing the side of the mug if you’re using it as a pot because I use my Sterno Inferno as my pot and my mug for drinking. I don’t drink from my Inferno b/c its too big and my coffee/hot chocolate cools too quickly in it.

If I did use my Toaks mug for double duty, leaving the Inferno at home, I’d probably bring a piece of aluminum foil to act as a superlight lid* or just suck it up and carry the 0.5oz Toaks lid, too. :-)

(* it seems you could cut a piece of aluminum foil big enough to protect the ThermoLite from direct heat creep up the side and use the ThermoLite to hold down the aluminum foil).

@JG H You’ll probably be fine. I was using the narrow (3″/8cm) 400ml pot, probably with the stove on high. The Toaks pots are around 4″ wide, right?
