Just to let everyone know, REI is selling the Jetboil SOL Titanium Companion Cup right now at a sale price of $53.93. The item number is 813624. This is the cheapest price I’ve seen, and it’s an even better deal for those of you that live in a state without a sales tax (OR, MT, etc). It might be one of the last chances to pick up one of these before they’re gone forever.
Here’s another REI sales item to consider: the Evernew 400 titanium cup (item # 883144) for $15.93. For those of you that are still geeking out over the BRS-3000T stove with the “Josh’s JB Mod” concept, just know that this cup weighs 1.75 oz. and it fits fairly well on the bottom of the Sol cup, effectively replacing the silly stock JB plastic bottom cup (1.0 oz.). Josh’s #2 carbon fiber pot lid for the Sol is also a good fit for the EN 400. So for a mere .75 oz weight penalty, you can leave the stock plastic cup at home and now have a cup that you can actually cook with–mac/cheese, a soup mix, a sauce or whatever. It adds an interesting capability to the JB/BRS mod concept. You could also just take the EN 400, the BRS stove, and a partial canister to whip up a quick hot chocolate or cup of tea during a shoeshoe break. Note: the cup’s handles are covered with a cheesy plastic tubing, which will easily melt. They should be replaced with silicone tubing for better heat resistance, which is easy to do.
I don’t know how long these will be on sale, but probably until they sell out.
