My uncle handed down a decent Sierra Designs tent where the waterproofing on the fly is flaking off.

I have read a few articles and watched 3 or 4 YouTube videos.

Re application seems straightforward. It is the removal where I am looking for pointers.

Soak in laundry detergent for a few hours then use a brush…

How stiff of a brush? How many few hours? How can I tell if it is stripped in an area to move on to the next one?

So many questions…

another question – if you just remove the coating that’s flaking, can you apply the waterproofing even if it’s over the old coating at places.  Sort of like painting a house.

That was perfect! Thank you for pointing me to this.

The re-do is one of my Xmas break projects.
