I’m getting fed up with my top-loader (Granite Gear Nimbus Ozone). Trying to get at things towards the bottom and middle is predictably a pain in the ass.
The Granite Gear Blaze 60 has a single side zip along the length of the bag:

How is this in actuality to use? One problem I can think of is that with a pack that’s full and causing tension on the fabric, the single side zip might become just a narrow slit that’s very difficult to get stuff out of and even more difficult to close again. A busted zipper is also very difficult to repair.
Something like an Osprey Atmos AG has a U-shaped zippered bottom:

How is this in actual use and durability? It gives good access to the bottom but not so great access to things in the middle.
I would prefer a pack with a complete U-shaped zip along the entire body so that the entire back can open up like a flap, giving access to everything inside like a suitcase, BUT I want one that also has an extendable collar with a typical drawstring roll top opening.
