“We invite all active duty, veterans, reserves, and first responders to become members of our Pro Program for discounts on our packs, shelters, and select accessories.
The discount you will see reflected is for 20% off the Packs, Accessories, and Stuff Sacks + Pods categories and 10% off the Shelters + Tents category. Pro discounts are only valid on hyperlitemountaingear.com and are not accepted at retail partner locations. Pro discounts cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or promotional codes. In the case of competing discounts on our website, pros will receive the higher discount. Free shipping not available on pro orders.”

Hyperlite Mountain GearI WAS GOING TO PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 2023……
For you that are thinking of enrolling in a Hyperlight Pro Program Account OR have an account because you fall into the category of active duty, veterans, reserves, and first responders, don’t be surprised if you do NOT get the 20% offered.
This is a recent discovery as of my usage from a few days ago when I went to order a item that I was going to purchase I should have receive the 20% discount from Hyperlight Mountain Gear having a Hyperlight Pro Program Account…..but I did NOT! If you do have a Hyperlight Pro Program Account and inquire or complain (https://support.hyperlitemountaingear.com/hc/en-us/requests/new ) concerning THE 20% DISCOUNT you did NOT receive …. they just might give you Free Shipping from your inquiry concerning the 20% discount.
Sep 9, 2023 at 7:12 am #3788666Is that quote from an email? Here is what they currently have about it,
https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/pages/military-and-first-responders
One could report to BBB or the FTC.
Sep 9, 2023 at 9:48 am #3788672John…The quote came from the Hiperlight Mountain Gear Pro Program write up. I placed Mike St. Pierre name after as he is the CEO of the company that produced the discount. This change in the NO 20% discount has just occurred in 2023 I believe, now give free shipping that does not equate to the discount.
Would you believe…..The current posting on the Hyperlight site for the Pro Program you quoted above, has been changed since yesterday, as the quote above that came off to the Pro Program I signed up with AND was on the site yesterday!! I must have started something in my communication with Hyperlight. I still think it is a “stab in the back” for all active duty, veterans, reserves, and first responders that signed uped previously for the Pro Program AND DID RECEIVED THE 20% thinking it would continue.
Sep 9, 2023 at 12:59 pm #3788676Yeah, it musta been one of those email-mining promotions that could change at any second.
Sep 9, 2023 at 4:23 pm #3788681So currently it says “We invite all active duty, veterans, reserves, and first responders to become members of our Pro Program for discounts on our packs, shelters, and select accessories.” And then there is a link to apply to the Pro Program, which is generally for “qualified outdoor educators, guides, retail shop staff, environmental activists, professional outdoor athletes, and anyone working in the outdoor industry.”
The discount isn’t specified, but it sounds like it would be the same for veterans as for guides. So maybe they thought things over and fixed it. Did you hear back from them?
Sep 9, 2023 at 4:51 pm #3788683Dan…No I have not receive any return from Mike ([email protected]) or Hyperlight Web Form (Contact Us).
The quote above that you provide and I also provided in my opening comments was the original. This was on the web until today, after my initial inquiry to the web site email. It spelled out “active duty, veterans, reserves, and first responders” AND “The discount you will see reflected is for 20% off the Packs, Accessories, and Stuff Sacks + Pods categories and 10% off the Shelters + Tents category. ”
When you were Pro Program member by filling out some information to qualify, and if you were accepted, you receive notification, and then you could sign into the ACCOUNT at the top of the Hyperlight Web Site. After signing signed into your account, and then proceeded to shop the item you wanted, you would see the 20% discount marked and the going price marked out…..THIS IS NOT THE CASE AS OF YESTERDAY.
Today if you go to Military & First Responders below you will read THANK YOU, and the discount info has been take off.
Military & First Responders
To the men and women who serve in our Armed Forces and answer the calls for help as First “Responders, let us say, first and foremost, THANK YOU for your heroism and commitment. You may have no choice about the equipment you’re required to carry in your lines of work, but when your off-duty time includes some R&R in the great outdoors, we’d be honored to help you lighten your load in more efficient and enjoyable ways. We invite all active duty, veterans, reserves, and first responders to become members of our Pro Program for discounts on our packs, shelters, and select accessories.”Sep 12, 2023 at 9:29 am #3788808Hyperlite Mountain Gear Return…..
“Veterans are certainly eligible for military discounts; as I am seeing that your account was once approved for our pro program to receive these discounts. However, I am seeing that your pro account has expired, as they need to be renewed annually to be eligible to receive the discounts. I encourage you to re apply for our pro program here https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/pages/pro-program-application and once re approved let me know and I can then gladly issue refunds on these past orders to match the discounts you would have received the first time around, and that way moving forward you will automatically receive the discounts when signed into your account when placing orders.”
“as they need to be renewed annually to be eligible to receive the discounts.”
Never mention renewing on the the Hyperlite Site AND I have been a Pro Account member since 2017. Last purchase in 2023 with discount!!
Yes things do change, and this change for the many like myself is NEGATIVE!
Sep 12, 2023 at 10:52 am #3788809@ Ken. I am really confused by this thread.
It sounds like they have been sloppy if not negligent in the management of the website content about the Pro Program, and contradictory in their communication to you. But in the end they have offered a corrective action, namely to reinstate the discount for you if you re-apply to the program and reimburse you for any orders that should have received the discount.
Sep 12, 2023 at 2:39 pm #3788831Bruce…Yes they have discontinued discount promotions write up on the website if you go to the Pro Program site at the bottom of the page at https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/pages/pro-program. It used to read several days ago:
“The discount you will see reflected is for 20% off the Packs, Accessories, and Stuff Sacks + Pods categories and 10% off the Shelters + Tents category. Pro discounts are only valid on hyperlite mountaingear.com and are not accepted at retail partner locations. Pro discounts cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or promotional codes. In the case of competing discounts on our website, pros will receive the higher discount. Free shipping not available on pro orders.”
Since I email them and mentioned the were NOT giving a discounts to my account for a item I wanted a weeks ago AND I had just purchased in Jan 2023 a item for 20% that was noted on my Pro Program Account that I did receive the 20% discount, I was questioning what happened to the discount?? Today when you sign up for the Pro Program, and have no previous knowledge of the discounts, you will only see them when you have a approved account and sign into your approved Pro Account….previously the statement above in quotes was in B&W under the Pro Program Account.
At NO time past /present was there a mention of a time limit of a Pro Account, and when Hyper light answered my follow-up email they said:
“Veterans are certainly eligible for military discounts; as I am seeing that your account was once approved for our pro program to receive these discounts. However, I am seeing that your pro account has expired, as they need to be renewed annually to be eligible to receive the discounts. I encourage you to re apply for our pro program here https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/pages/pro-program-application and once re approved let me know and I can then gladly issue refunds on these past orders to match the discounts you would have received the first time around, and that way moving forward you will automatically receive the discounts when signed into your account when placing orders.”
I believe my recent email of today came from a spoke person from Mike St.Pierre, CEO (I sent him a email concerning this issue– with no return), to get things straight with the recent issues I had experienced. I believe if you were a person that worked with or looked at the Hyper light Mountain Gear site prior to 2013 you would have know there was a 20% discount for active duty, veterans, reserves, and first responders….. “new comers” as of a few days ago would have NOT had this knowledge concerning the Pro Program and Account and what the discounts !
AND YES… “they have offered a corrective action, namely to reinstate the discount for you if you re-apply to the program and reimburse you for any orders that should have received the discount.” If I had not inquired I would have not know this, and want to help other that ran into a issue like mine.
Sep 14, 2023 at 3:24 pm #378895920% discount works for those who are enrolled in this program. Prices on the web site reflect discounts.
Sep 14, 2023 at 5:56 pm #3788970Art….Correct, only if they have a Account that does not need renewing as happened to me, and is NOT mentioned when you enroll for your account… just has been instituted on a yearly basis from I learned within last month, and by renewing the discount appears.
Sep 17, 2023 at 5:20 pm #3789115What’s the purpose? -To get a discount..? I get a discount through Hyperlite and I don’t even have to be some specialty minority class in society to achieve this. I don’t expect handouts just because what I’ve done in my life. Just an avid backpacker that likes some of their products. So, they give it to me. Sorry to hear they didn’t live up to their word. I agree with you, they should have given you the discount. And not because you did something in your life that others have not. But, because they said they would, and then did not. I’ve grown up with deep roots in a military family and know what it means to be patriotic. A discount is such an insult to that service anyways.
