    Not where I’d expect to see an article on the future of running shoes, but an interesting read. Personally I’d take shock absorption and injury prevention over energy return.

    Of course they don’t mention anatomically correct toe box shape. If these companies were really concerned about the runners they wouldn’t make pointy toed shoes.

    Thats a heavily biased article, denigrating the barefoot shoe movement as a tired old fad.  It’s coming back strong now that people understand you need to train your feet and gradually build up miles.

    A bad combination (WSJ article) of academics and marketing guys.
    Roger’s Rule of Thumb: if it is in the ‘popular press’, ignore it. Most likely a marketing thing.
