I have a permit for 7 of us (me and my kids ages 17, 14, and 12 and best friend and his kids ages 15 and 13) for Teton Crest Trail for July 29-August 3. We have reservations for Granite Middle/South Fork Group, Death Canyon Shelf Group, Alaska Basin, South Fork Cascade Group, and Holly Lake Group. We are planning on going from the tram to String Lake. How are the Group campsites compared to the regular backcountry sites?
I did this hike in 2015 as a group of 6. We didn’t stay at any of the group sites, but never had issues finding places to pitch. A great hike and the wildlife was spectacular.
