There will be a Tenkara camping get together at Esofea Park near Coon Valley, Wisc May 16-21, 2019. I have included a link to pictures from last years get together. I will post more info later. If you are on FB many of the Tenkara groups will update info also. Tenkara Wisconsin will be the main group.
Nov 28, 2018 at 2:21 am #3566210That looks like fun! Water looks a bit high, but clearly fish were caught.
Nov 28, 2018 at 11:34 am #3566235We had a huge rainfall two days before but by the second day we were finding fish. I think we had people from 10 states show up.
Dec 1, 2018 at 3:20 pm #3566729I’ve been wanting to travel there and check out their creeks. I’ve been over to the driftless part of Minnesota (Preston region) but never Wisconsin.
Dec 5, 2018 at 12:22 am #3567447Robert, They have an incredible amount of public access in SW Wisc. If you ever want to hook up I can show you a bunch of nice water.
Jan 18, 2019 at 12:37 pm #3573671We have reserved sites 15 and 16 at Esofea County Park. We can probably fit 20 tents plus the 2 campers on these sites. The “Wisconsin Tenkara” FB page is updating on the event.

Mar 6, 2019 at 4:18 am #3582018as a lifelong creeky trout worshipper,
as a big fan of greg brown –Â “going driftless”
as well of author Ted Leeson, and his great book on the Driftless, Jerusalem Creek: Journeys Into the Driftless
…this is firmly on my bucket / creel list! I do not think I can make it out from Orygun this year however. David can you recommend more reading & viewing for me in the meantime? Thanx.
Mar 10, 2019 at 12:41 pm #3582699Here are a couple of blogs and one very good author. Rich’s books cover other areas but he has some fantastic videos too.

Apr 14, 2019 at 11:20 am #3588696Just a short update on the Campout. We have 3 on stream presentations lined up.
- Rob Worthing will put on a casting clinic
- Graham Moran will demonstrate Kebari Manipulations
- Â reading the water by Paul Vertrees
- On Saturday night we will have a communal cookout featuring grilled chicken breast. We will also be putting on a swap meet and gear sale.
Apr 18, 2019 at 3:51 pm #3589397David, I’m interested. I’m pretty new to this but have the gear so it would be nice to learn best practices for doing this.
What day(s)Â are the presentations going to be?
Other than camping is there a fee for attending?
Apr 25, 2019 at 9:53 pm #3590426JP,
Sorry it took me so long to answer.
Not sure exactly when the presentations will be. Probably Friday and/or Sat PM.
No fee.
You can pick up to date info on the Tenkara Wisconsin FB page.
