TAR Xlite Coated so they won't get mildew inside?

Looking at the video found on this Thermarest web site: https://www.thermarest.com/mattresses/neoair-xlite-2 and at about the 50 second mark in the video, she states that Thermarest mattresses are coated on the inside and that there is no risk of condensation creating mold/mildew.

I’m curious if anybody really believes this to be true?  Not the coating part, but rather that it will prevent mold/mildew forming.  Clearly this was a problem on the earlier generation Xlites.  So, either this problem has been solved with the most recent generation of Xlites, or the coating doesn’t really work.

Penny for your thoughts?

In my humble opinion, it’s probably best to use some sort of pump sack to inflate air mattresses and avoid the moisture/condensation as much as possible. (I top off my NeoAir XLite with a breath or two).

I’ve used an “Instaflator” for several years, but it’s wearing out, and it looks like they are no longer made.  I’ll probably have to upgrade to some sort of Schnozzle, pump sack, etc when this thing goes, or sooner to avoid failure in the field.

This is a false statement..You will grow Mold no matter what it is coated with because lung air is water in a vapor form that turns to a liquid, and all you need to know to be a Mold pro is…You CAN’T grow Mold without the presence of Moisture..

^^^
But the question being asked is: “is there a coating that can inhibit mold growth in the presence of moisture?”

No

If this was a house with a mold issue, you would remediate it,and then  a coating was applied ( incapulation) you would not have reoccurring mold problem, Unless you  have a Moisture Problem again..

The Problem with the pads is that they don’t get the Moisture completely out due to the materials they are made from, (moisture barrier). Like a Tarp with condesation, you shake it off and usually stow it on the outside of your pack, if not, mold will grow on it in time.

Thanks everybody for your replies.  I’m generally of the same persuasion — that no matter what Thermarest has done, mildew/mold is probable from long-term use of human breath for inflation.  I’ve seen too much “mildew-resistant bathroom caulk” — covered in mildew.

Thanks!
