Wool socks are really anti-microbial, so I’ve been thinking of wool underwear but the added warmth deters me.  Also, I don’t find them in briefs, only boxer briefs, and those again are too warm.  I’ve been using synthetic briefs with “anti-microbial” treatments but I don’t know anything about those treatments.  What are they, are they really effective, does the treatment eventually wear off?

So far, I’ve found I can really only go about 3 days in those, so I don’t know if that’s considered better than non treated ones.  The ones I’m talking about are exo give and goes to give context.

synthetics

Most are now using polygiene, which the company claims* is an organic acid also used in the food and cosmetic industries.  Organic acids tend to be “weaker” (think citric acid), so probably as benign as the fabric to waste cycle will allow for non-recycled clothing.  Guessing they found a proprietary way to bond it into fabric surfaces.

Silver ions used to be the big thing and before that … just putting up with the stench and maybe hitting the pits with Mirazyme.

*according to their website.

does it wash out

Not according to the company and vendors.  It’s embedded into the fabric and will last the life span of the fabric.
