Hello.  I’m about to order a Superior Wilderness Designs DCF Long Haul 50.  I need to select a hipbelt size.  They come Small (26 in.), Medium (28 in.), and Large (30 in.).  What size should I get?  My ULA Circuit hip belt measures 31 inches, and fit nicely. My waist size is about 33. I wear 32″ Levis. SWD suggested I get the Large (30 in.), but I wonder if that is too big, considering that I am a small person (140 lbs, 5’6”, narrow waist).  Any thoughts?   BTW, they suggest the Small torso size for me.

I’m about a 30-32 inch waist. I got the 28″ belt. Fits fine, has probably 4″-5″ left for adjustability in case I’m wearing heavier clothes. FWIW.

for my Superior 40 I got the medium size as well, I typically wear size 32-33 waist in pants.  Couldn’t be happier with the fit of belt and the rest of the pack for that matter, it’s super functional, comfy, well crafted and aesthetically appealing…

I have a Long Haul 50 and it’s the best pack I’ve ever owned.

This fatboy sports a 38 inch waist and the Large fits me fine.

Thanks David.  Very helpful.  Seems like people love these packs.  Which is good news, since they cannot be returned once you take them on a hike.

Good to know, Five Star.  Did you get the DCF material?  Any other suggestions for customization?

If you feel like taking a drive up to Arlington, you can try mine on to ensure the 28″ fits how you want it to.

Thanks for the offer, Doug.  I’ll pass.  But, I’d love to chat on the phone if you have a couple minutes.

@David

I went with XPAC and it didn’t leak several weeks ago during a nasty storm on Sinking Creek Mtn. on the AT.

The lycra shoulder pouches are great for a phone, glasses, battery or a small water bottle.

Do NOT get a lycra front pouch though.  It does tear easily.
