Hi Steven, I have a 3-season southwestern desert/Sierra’s list ready to go:

I have the 35L, super impressive craftsmanship on these packs – very thoughtful, no shortcuts taken. The stitching is phenomenal. Got mine with VX03 body/VX07 bottom, lycra shoulder pockets, a lycra main pocket on the front, a bladder resevoir and a rolltop pocket. Its a hair over 16oz including the detachable hipbelt.
Thanks! Gear lost looks similar to mine so probably go with the 35 too. I’m getting all that plus a second top pocket on one side and a tall pocket on the other side for my Protrail. Thanks!
Andy, do you use water bottles at all? How’s the accessibility of the side pockets?
i can reach back and remove a water bottle just fine. putting it back, i sling the pack around onto my chest. what’s used in my water system is based on where i’m going though.. so I do use a bladder occasionally, sawyer squeeze w/ plastic bottles occasionally, the BeFree/Hydrapak, etc.
Gotcha. Thanks.
I can’t reach the side pockets of my SWD 25. Â The pocket angle is vertical and the 25 is pretty short so the top of the pocket is high up. Â I rigged up a shoulder strap water bottle pocket for easy access.
I can grab a water bottle out of my Long Haul 50 (and put it back) pretty easy.
Worth noting it’s my first pack where my water bottles are easy to reach.
Very great and well made backpack, great quality and nice people.
Andy, any idea how a 1L smartwater bottle would fit in the side pocket? Is it to big? I like to have just one bottle so the packs that are spaced for two don’t work well for me.
one fits snugly and you can fit two if needed, the pocket gets pretty stretched out. my impression is that it’s not made specifically to hold two but it’ll work.
Sweet, I don’t like having 2 so that works perfect
