I don’t know about Sierra mosquitoes, but Alaskan mosquitoes can bite through any and all fabrics that are tight to the skin. Okay, maybe not Kevlar.

If using poles is chewing up your sun gloves, some cycling gloves have an SPF rating. Last trip I pulled out some retired cycling gloves from the 80’s with solid fabric backs to try out the concept. They worked well for hiking/scrambling. And for when I trip. (there are just so many rocks in the Rockies… ;-)
My sungrubbies kept ’em from biting. I use poles, so my hands are vulnerable tot the buggers. They don’t bite through REI nylon pants either, ime. They also don’t bite through the Solumbra fabric on the drape hat I linked to–but that hangs very loose. Here’s Simms Bugstopper sun gloves:Â edit: alth0 I can’t tell how they work! maybe not the best example…

Another belated vote for Glacier Gloves with the leather palms.
Thanks, Wisner – I’ve had some things removed as well, and have also worn a Capilene Cool hoody for the last several years, on through the UPF “recall.” Nice to hear the REI shirt is holding up. I might try one this week in Death Valley. Thankfully not 100 degree temps!
