I am looking for a rain jacket that is durable (bush whacking), mid thigh length, has pit zips, and made of eVent would be ideal. Does anyone know if there is one out there or if there is someone who makes jackets out of eVent? I figure something along these lines would weigh around a pound-ish?

REI has an option like that, or at least they had an option like that about a year ago. The 1# requirement is going to be tough, though. I’d budget around 1# 5oz+ for those parameters.

I will try to find it. Weight isn’t a huge concern as long as the other factors are mostly met. Thanks!

The REI Shuksan shell was discontinued but the Rab Latok is still current. Both around 20oz. The REI is probably the best value if you can still find it.

Might be worth warming up to some GTX options.

@ Cole

If you search on the threads here, there are many reports of eVent not being durable.

It is one of the lighter options though and I think Goretex monopoly power pushed it out of the market.

BTW Everestgear.com is having a RAB sale.

Cheers.

I was going to say just that: if durability is what you’re after, you should consider Gore-Tex

Just for curiosities sake, what Gore-Tex options should I look at?

I’m partial to Arcteryx for Gore-Tex, and most familiar with their Alpha and Beta lines – neither of which would satisfy your mid-thigh length requirement.  I think their Zeta line might fit the bill.  If they offer a Zeta AR, that would probably match a lot of your requirements.
