My idea right now is the following:

Nitecore Tip (240 Lumens @ 30 min, 95 Lumens @ 90 mins, USB rechargable, .86oz) to clip to my hat for light use.

Zebralight SC63w 18650 XHP35 Flashlight (1126 Lumens @ 2.2 hr, 1.3oz without battery) to use as my main light source for night hiking. Ideally either hold it normally or clip it to my backpack hip belt somehow.

My question is mainly about the flashlight; do you guys think it would be smarter for me to go for one of their headlamps like the H602w 18650 XM-L2 Flood and just use it without the head strap and get a clip because the direction the light is pointed relative to how it clips might be better for attaching it to my waist? I don’t have any intention of using this source as a headlamp as I want the light to come from my lower mid section.

Any advice is appreciated!

I have the h52w.  Great light.  The clip works great as a task light and should work on your belt or strap for night hiking.  I don’t usually bring the head strap, but I think Stick made a lighter one for your consideration.

I have the Petzl e+Light, but now just as a backup since the Zebralight does it all.
