Companion forum thread to: Somewhere in the Catskills
Ended up going to the Catskills for 2 nights to do some camping and hiking to a fire tower, hitting another 3500 ft peak @ 3,729 ft…

Oct 14, 2025 at 7:46 pm #3842747Dirtbag, I always enjoy your videos. You have a gift for it and I admire your dedication to putting out good trip reports. Thanks. BTW, tell me about your blue hoody. I am always looking for light, breathable yet somewhat warm active layer hoodies.
Oct 15, 2025 at 4:51 am #3842769Thanks so much. I have said this before, I am no pro , lol. I just record my time out there mostly for myself so I have the memories to look back at.. kinda like pulling out an old photo album ( for those who remember what that is).. One day I may not be able to do this anymore and I will appreciate having these videos to look back at. Heck, I already forget some times out there, so its nice to have footage for the memories. Also, so friends and family can watch, if they even care too.. and … well to share with this community. If anything I know can be of help to anyone here.. thats a good thing. Thanks again for kind words, Im glad you enjoy!! The shirt is my beloved and favorite Patagonia Air Shed hoody pull over. I posted on here a while ago, maybe 2 years? 3? .. asking about anyone’s thoughts and info. It quickly became my favorite 3 season hiking shirt.. as you may notice in all my videos, I wear it every time. In fact, I love it so much.. I am soon to be buying another one. I will say, the shoulders are beginning to pill a bit.. nothing horrible (yet) but eventually the material is going to wear thru and I think create holes. Keep in mind, I have worn this shirt extensively.. on all of my backpacking 3 season trips and many many many times when I first got it.. on my commute to and from work ( carrying my day pack) in all weather conditions, testing it out to see how I liked it. Its a great shirt for hiking and running in.. warm sunny weather and cool chilly weather too. Unfortunately, I think this version is no longer made, but they do sell a new version.. and im hoping its just as good if not better.
Oct 15, 2025 at 11:44 am #3842782Thanks for your informative reply. I see that recent reviews of the current Air Shed hoody are mixed due more frequent complaints about the cut/fit, not the performance. If you happen to buy a new one I would appreciate your feedback via personal message about your impressions.
Also, what video editing software do you use for your video trip reports? I have never video’d my trips but you have inspired me to try for the same personal reasons that you mentioned, primarily to have memories to look back at, so much more affective than photographs imo.
Oct 15, 2025 at 4:18 pm #3842795I use my phone to film and edit. I use Kinemaster for my editing. I am not tech savvy at all, pretty basic. I have no computer or laptop..
Yes I do plan on purchasing a new Airshed soon and I definitely will let you know about it!
