This ’18-’19 staff gear recommended item is no longer available. Anyone know of a good substitute, either Smartwool or another company? Smartwool customer service is silent on the issue. Not sure why they even have a contact us page as they don’t respond to inquiries.

Sorry, I can’t help you but I wonder about whether it is useful or not to have a hoodie as a base layer.
I love the products from Ridge Merino (ridgemerino.com)–and have multiples of pretty much everything in the women’s and accessory lines. I use the Aspect mid weight long sleeve top and bottom as my base layer and top the upper with the Heist hoody in cooler weather.
Thanks for the loooong list. That’ll keep me busy for awhile.
Yes, when It’s cool or cold out at higher elevation a hoodie even as a base layer is a good thing.
Ibex (which is coming back end of month) used to have a awesome hoody that also had a 1/4 zip. I’ve gone sun hoody for summer backpacking (Patagonia tropic comfort) and love it. When somewhere hot and exposed the big hood is amazing
