I passed through their a couple of weeks ago on my SoSHR thru hike. We didn’t camp there but I didn’t notice any bear scat if that’s any indication.
Like my JMT thru hike last summer I didn’t see one bear on the SoSHR. After about 30+ days backpacking in the Sierra over the past 2 years I have only seen bears in lower-ish elevations and places known for high bear activity. Yosemite Valley, Little Yosemite Valley, Woods Creek Crossing and Vidette Meadows. Of course, your experience may differ but I wouldn’t worry about 60LB. Have fun!
