Philosophical question:
Where were materials made?
Where was feedstock for those materials sourced?
Is sewing, that much more important in grand scheme of things, or just more visible so people focus on it?
Is a product sewn here, of foreign produced materials better than product sewn elsewhere, of us produced materials?
Raw material sourcing ,raw material production, item manufacturing, shipping, distribution, banking, finance, all play a role. Where somethings mfg can be small part in overall economics.
Even buying completely foreign-produced items still results in US jobs that otherwise might not exist…… Particularly if no one would buy those items due to cost if they were produced here. Walmart and best buy and amazon have based their business on this, resulting in hundreds of thousands of American jobs by trickle-down effect. Like it or not this is a reason for our high standard of living…. Exploiting cheap labor in other countries. The idea that we would be better off if we did not do that is a fallacy.
