The sternum strap is underneath the pocket, which I like how the sternum strap can be slid up or down instead of having to unclip it and move it around. I love the bottom pocket it’s tough I just used the Simple pack on the JMT and the bottom mesh pocket looks unused.
I know many here have limited experience with running packs, but I wonder if something like the UD Fastpack 35 would be a suitable alternative (it’s always in stock and cheaper). Remove the waist belt and the frame sheet and the weight would be similar except with a superior shoulder harness. Similar front mesh pocket, side pockets and shoulder pockets. Granted, no bottom pocket. Just something to consider.
