I’m interested in doing the SHR this year but my only window to do so may be in early to mid September. Does anyone have experience on the SHR during this timespan that could shed some light on what I might expect in terms of weather/snow/etc, especially in a snow-heavy year as I hear 2019 has been?

Overall, you should have no problems with existing snow, even in a snow year like this. If you start in mid-September, you’d finish in early October? The later you finish, the lower the temps would be and the higher chance of snow. Weather-wise there is a slight chance of snow at higher elevations at that time; it’s not something I would be stressed about, but I wouldn’t be surprised either. In September there is not a monsoonal weather pattern, so thunderstorms are also not usually a common concern. Hope that helps! If you find you need more information, posting at High Sierra Topix is also a good resource.
