I made a pillow out of bubble wrap material.  Pretty good pillow and very lightweight.

The wind blew it away and I was unable to find it.

My next pillow wasn’t bubble wrap material, so I must not have liked it, but maybe that should be re-explored.  It is very lightweight.

Thanks.  I have a Big Sky coming and if that does not work out I will get an Aeros Premium and Exped and try those two out.

I’ll stop updating daily but two nights on the Big Sky pillow at home in bed and my neck feels great. That doesn’t mean it will work for anyone else but I’m sold.

The Big Sky worked pretty good for me but it needs to be higher so I am going to work on that.  I think I will still try the Exped and the S2S just to get the best one for the job.

Still too low? How about a piece of that blue foam under the pillow. Maybe sew a pillow case to hold them together. Or just keep the foam piece under your mat.

The BSI arrived tonight. I am pleasantly surprised. I really like it so far testing it out. I need to give it a run overnight, but I think its going to work well.

Bought this but haven’t tried it yet

TREKOLOGY ALUFT 2.0 Inflatable Camping Pillow – Ultimate Support and Comfort for Backpacking, Hiking, Air Travel, and the Beach https://a.co/d/cuaus3P

Also a side sleeper that hasn’t found a good solution for me yet, might try that dream one

I went with the Aeros Premium.  How are people attaching it or keeping it from moving around?

In that same vain the Nemo Fillo is exceptionally comfortable yet heavy as well. I will take it on shorter trips with my children but when solo I struggle thru.

270-degree Rotisserie sleeper here (back and sides).   When carry-weight is not a concern (short-distance trips; car camping) I use a Nemo “Fillo Luxury.”  Wider than most inflatables, with a nice foam top pad.

When carry-weight is a concern, I use a Trekology Aluft Deluxe.  Not sure they are available anymore.  It is rectangular, rather than “kidney bean shaped” as most of the Arluft pillows now seem to be.  165 gm.  It was the closest lighter pillow that I could find resembling the Nemo Fillo Luxury.  They actually look quite similar…

I use the Aeros paired with the Sea to Summit Ether Light pad.

The pad comes with some stick-on velcro-style tabs with a very fine hook which catches onto the bottom of the pillow, so you can position it precisely as you like and it stays there all night. Game changer.

I guess it might be possible to find a similar tab you could use with other brands of pad?

Typically excellent review here from SectionHiker which explains the system in more detail

May fav thing about the Exped pillow are the side tabs, allowing for a cord (I used 1/8 in. shock cord) tied to each side of the pillow, cord passing under the pad. With the S2S Aero large, I tried tying cord to an old Buff. It has potential but I really didnt need it. The Buff stretched over the pillow afforded enough traction on the pad that the pillow didnt drift much.

I, too am a side sleeper and I use two pillows. An inflatable Sea To Summit Aeros inflatable with an OLD, filled backpackers pillow–bought 20+ years ago at REI–in a pillow case on top.

PillowKeeps my head at a perfect angle. I sleep like a baby.
