This is my first ever post/question, I apologize if I am in incorrect forum.

My question – has anyone tried to shorten the carbon fiber PitchLoc poles on the TarpTent Straospire Li? Not for weight, but size.

I am considering hacking off, well skillfully cutting off 1 inch or so of these struts.

I have been looking at it pitched, and it seems I can take a inch or so off them and still retain them in their pockets and tighten.

My reason to even attempt this is to reduce the length of this packed. Not reduce weight, NO.

Just the size, length.

Anyone have this tent and maybe even considered this too?

Curious.

Thanks

Steve

Steve, hello!

My inclination would be not to mess with the struts. I don’t think you’d be getting much out of taking an inch off. High risk/reward ratio, from my perspective. The Strat Li is like a spaceship. Probably best not to tinker with alien engineering;)

I agree. I’ve thought about it, and reconsidered messing with the tents geometry. Nice analogy “spaceship”.

Thanks
