Well, I waited a bit late to ask, but I am planning on submitting a reservation for the High Sierra Trail tomorrow. Last year both my friend and I submitted permits for 8 people for the Rae Lakes loop counterclockwise (yes, you have to specifiy the direction) and both got it. He had his hotel concierge do the dirty work for him starting at midnight, while I stayed up til 1am and never got though. Can’t recall if I got through the next day or a few days later, but we both got the reservation we were trying for and I ended up giving mine back.
This year I am trying for a permit for 12 for a boy scout group. Wondering if trying to fax it in on the first day is necessary, or if just dropping it in the mail and it getting there a few days later makes that much difference.
What is your experience?
thanks, Matt
