I already own a Seek Outside Revolution Fortress 6,300 and an older ZPacks Arc Blast (8oz). I’d like to get a new pack for day hikes (or maybe a quick overnight) and am considering a few options. I’d like to get your opinion on which makes the most sense:
1) SO Flight One in solid Spectra
2) ZPacks Arc Haul 64L
3) SO custom 3,500 bag only in SpectraGrid
The third option uses the existing Revolution frame I have and adds a new custom bag to it. I’m not sure how much of pain in the neck it will be to swap out the 3,500 bag for the 6,300 one and whether I’d quickly grow tired of it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Aug 18, 2020 at 7:36 am #3671339The first two seem like overkill for a dayhike or quick overnighter. No opinion on the third option as I’ve never looked into it.
Aug 18, 2020 at 7:39 am #3671340I’m confused by this question. Why would you use those huge packs for a day hike or overnight?
Aug 18, 2020 at 8:42 am #3671351At a 6oz penalty, The ZPacks is light and gives me extra room for an overnight compared to their 50L. A friend of mine just got the 64L which I was able to examine. That is a happy weight/volume tradeoff I’m willing to make. Also, on overnights, I’m usually carrying several trailcams, and other gear, that most people wouldn’t have on a typical hike.
I already have my 8oz ZPacks Blast that can be used for a simple day hike with no gear. I’m looking for something that is between that and my SO 6300.
Aug 18, 2020 at 8:51 am #3671355Swapping out pack bags on the SO frame is easy and quick. I use an SO Revolution for hunting and swap between three different pack bag setups, depending on where and when and for what I’m hunting.
Aug 18, 2020 at 9:12 am #3671359What is the 8 oz Zpacks Arc Blast? How large is it? Do you mean 18 oz instead of 8 oz?
Aug 18, 2020 at 10:21 am #3671368My 2019 Zpacks Arc Blast weighs 22.3 oz. with two upper side pockets attached.
Aug 18, 2020 at 11:12 am #3671375No, 8.6oz.  I just weighed it and that includes ranger beads and two ZPacks shoulder pouches which account for the .6oz. I got my Blast years ago when Joe first started out. It may have been called a Zero Blast? It was the largest one they made if I’m not mistaken.
Aug 18, 2020 at 12:37 pm #3671384You’ve got me curious. Is it the same design as the current Arc Blast? Or is it a frameless, more like the Nero?
Aug 18, 2020 at 2:07 pm #3671412It is frameless.
Aug 19, 2020 at 1:20 am #3671550It is frameless.
It sounds as if what you have is a Blast, rather than an Arc Blast.
Aug 19, 2020 at 6:37 pm #3671703Is this what your pack is like ZPacks Blast 30 Backpack & Multipack ?
or isn’t this an old post of yours showing it I’m looking at the Zpacks Blast 26, a 2,600 cu. in. backpack, which is made from a heavy cuben fiber and weighs approximately 8oz. .
