Considering using the 32 oz or 64 oz Sawyer Squeeze pouch on each side of my backpack pockets in combination with the cap/tubing/bite valve from the Platypus Hoser (also on each side; one will have water and the other electrolyte mix – I know the dual tubing might be a bit of overkill for some). I already own a 3 liter Hoser so I’ll use its cap/tubing/bite valve and will buy the other cap/tubing/bite valve which can be purchased separately for $12. I am going away from the annoying and potentially disastrous water bladder inside the pack setup.
I have the 32 oz pouch and it fit nicely in the side of my pack though I prefer to have 1.5 liter+ on each side though the next size up for Sawyer pouches is 2 liter (64 oz). I cannot find the dimensions on those to know if it will fit on the side pockets – please measure yours if you have the 64 oz (length/width). My understanding from a different thread is that its 1.41 oz weight.
If too big I might go with the more expensive Evernew 1.5 liter pouches or just carry another 32 oz Sawyer pouch and fill it up when needed for dryer stretches although thats a slight hassle I rather avoid (ie taking off the pack and swapping the pouch).
Jul 30, 2017 at 11:52 pm #3482029I don’t have one handy but they are pretty big. I have carried one in the side pocket of a ULA Catylyst before. I think you’d need a pack with generous side pockets.
