Sandhill Cranes

Nice shots Ian.

Ours (~10,000) are moving up from Basque del Apache,NM to Monte Vista, CO (about 2 hours south of me), before heading up to the Platte River, NE or the Tetons,  and then north for the summer.

What flyway are you on? Where are they heading?

You probably got the Arizona ones, Ian.  I keep meaning to drive to their gathering place one winter; it’s apparently quite a show…

Thanks Greg.  I’m not 100% sure of the flyway and ultimate destination.  From looking at a few sources, I suspect Valerie is correct.

Their next stop will be Othello, Washington which is an hour north of me where they will be given a hero’s welcome.
