I stumbled on the Samaya Assaut 2 Ultra tent (LINK) via one of the comments on a BPL Instragram post. The tent looks rather similar to the Locus Gear Djedi, so I was wondering whether anyone had seen any reviews or had any thoughts on the tent (currently pre-orders for Feb 2021)? My searches here and on Google came up blank, but I’m not a pro.

Just as the Djedi it’s a ‘breathable’ wedge style Dyneema tent. Marginally smaller. Slightly heavier at 36oz (+5,3oz), but with external pole sleeves and guy lines that are attached in two locations each. From the fancy 3D model it looks like they may attach directly to the pole. It also has a more elaborate (better?) top vent.

Price? Just shy of 1900 USD…

Any thoughts based on the info on their site or links to reviews that I might have missed?

Narrower floor puts Samaya one in 1p category in my book.

Good point. But for me I think both would be slightly roomier 1P winter tents, rather than the 2P climbing tents that I assume they were intended to be. I don’t do anything that strictly requires that style of tent, but I would appreciate something sturdy, light and easy-to-pitch for alpine winter outings above tree line.
