My two cents.  -Just received my Montbell Versalite in size XL.  Nice jacket but what MB calls an XL is what I call *L* (large).   There sizing is maybe too exact and doesn’t have the wiggle room of most other brands IMHO.

BTW my sport coat size is 43in.  My “pufffed -up” chest measures 44.5″ over tee and dress shirt.

Is there any chance you got the “asian sizing” version?  At 6’1” tall and 225 lbs I find my XL versalite quite generous.

Just realized I have the old Versalite (not GoreTex)…wonder if the new one is sized differently?

Versalite was purchased from MB USA. Size XL should fit 45-47 inch chest according to MB chart. XXL size not offered :(

Here are two Montbell XL jackets I got 2 years ago….

Seems to been a problem often

Denys – My previous generation XL Versalite measures 27″ across the chest, just under the armpits when laid flat.

My versalite runs large.  I wear a medium in everything and the versalite medium fits perfect over my medium sized puffy.

Andy @berner9 it looks like you have a wind jacket on top of a rain shell.  the wind jacket is meant to go over a base layer or light mid layer.  the rain shell is meant to fit, if necessary, over a puffy.  that is why the rain shell sizing is larger than the wind shell.

Wind shells can go over puffy’s.  It was an error and they took it back.  Asian size or just a mess up.

Just sad how many times I’ve seen it happen to people over the years
