The Rite in the Rain All Weather Pocket Pen is a ‘gram weenie’ tool which you might forget about until you need it. Collapsed, it measures only 3.1 in (8 cm) (about half the size of a standard pen) and can disappear in a hipbelt pocket. Assembled, it reaches 5.3 in (13.5 cm) and weighs just 0.25 oz (7 g).  The black ink and 0.8 mm point make a clear line, and the pressurized cartridge works from –30 °F ( °C) to 250 °F ( °C). It can even write underwater to 35 ft ( m), though I have no idea when I would ever test that. After about forty heavy note‑taking sessions, mine still has ink, but the small reservoir means it will likely run out sooner than a full‑size pen. It also cannot be refilled, which bothers me because I hate throwing out gear. I still wish it had a lanyard point, since it is so compact that it often vanishes in larger pockets. At least the fluorescent orange color (No OR92) helps me find it before it disappears into my pack without a trace.
