Most MLD Burn users seem to use a GG Nightlite as their frame. I was thinking about using a Rigderest since I have one on hand. Now I realized that a full length one would not fit and leave room for gear. However something smaller would. Is the Rigderest less compressible than the Nightlite? I was wanting to make an accordion style pad out of it. I don’t see why this wouldn’t work. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this before I hack up my pad.

I have a size Large MLD Burn and started using the pad I already owned, a Nightlite and then moved on.
I do not think compressibility is really an issue with a Nightlite versus RIdgerest. The Ridgerest would be stiffer which I think would work better to provide structure for the pack but the Nightlite is softer to sleep on. I did find the Nightlite a bit short for me at 6 ft 2 inches. I also found that the folded Nightlite took up a lot of space in the Burn and at one point is cut it to make just one third size piece (which is equivalent to the GG sit pad. :-))
In the end I found that the GG Nightlite was OK but not really tall enough at 18 inches for my size Large Burn. I then used a cut down Zrest which is about 20 inches wide (or tall in the Burn).
I think the Ridgerest is the same width as the Zrest. You could check for height before cutting it down. If you really want an accordion Ridgerest, why not just buy a Zrest?
I ended up moving to an inflatable Kymit pad that I bought from Ron MLD that fits in my regular Burn (and my Exodus) just fine.
