My husband’s Exped SynMat Hyperlite pad just sprang it’s second seam leak in about three trips. Thinking it’s probably time to replace. He’s been very happy with the pad, so we would have just bought another one of the same, but they’re not made anymore.

Any recommendations for another inflatable pad with similar comfort and insulation, hopefully the same weight or lighter?

Thanks!

I think the Exped pads have just been updated and have different names. Exped”s customer service is excellent. I had the Synmat. I have a Duomat now. Very comfortable. My main mat is the Nemo Extreme. Again very comfortable. For air mats anyway. They’ve since came out with a newer mat that’s cheaper and gets great reviews.

Nemo Tensor Extreme Conditions

I got a discount price. Since then the Nemo Eclipse has came out with good specs and good reviews. Cheaper.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Exped. I checked with their repair department about fixing my old Synmat. Bought from an unauthorized dealer (ebay), it had no warranty . They offered me a choice of 50% off a new one or one of their seconds for free which was the Duomat I have now.

I don’t usually like to recommend youtube reviewers because they most often tell you only what they like about their gear, but don’t survey the landscape for different options and so don’t help you understand what the best options out there are.  Even when they do, they usually don’t look at all factors (in this case, comfort, actual warmth vs r-value rating, noise, weight, durability) or test the gear under varied conditions.

I think sleeping pads are a rare counter example and these reviews seem trust worthy despite the “winner vs loser” style presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1-Sgkq72Qc

He deep dives in different pad categories in other earlier videos.  Here is the ultralight one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzvxasO_5t8

His are the best pad reviews I’ve come across.

At 6′ and 200 pounds, I find that the Zenbivy isn’t thick enough for me and bottoms out unless it’s fully inflated.  I think with the dimples, it’s actual thickness is less than the height. Nemo and Exped offer thicker pads.
