I was getting ready to pull the trigger on an REI Helix sleeping pad before the end of their 4th of July sale.  Wouldn’t you know it, it’s now listed as “Unavailable”.    Not out of stock, but actually “Unavailable” with a “Shop similar products” link below it.

It seemed like it would be competitive with other insulated air pads using the dimpled design for more comfort.  None of REI stores in our area have any in stock either.  Curious if it’s just sold out or if REI is already discontinuing it so that they can release an updated version.

Not sure what the deal is with the “unavailable” status on the pad. I bought the Helix during the Memorial Day sale. I’ve slept on it 3 or 4 times. It’s a nice pad for the money for sure. Packable, warm and for the most part comfortable. I really like Big Agnes and the bigger rails on the outside (that’s just my personal preference) but the Helix is super nice because I got it for $100 (needed another pad for my husband and the occasional friend that comes along). You really can’t beat it considering the price, weight, durability, and comfort.

I was ready to buy a biolite battery bank from REI and got the “unavailable” response.  Several days later, it was again available, so not sure why they chose that response??

Jeff, my friends at REI say that means the warehouses are out of the Helix. If you go to a store, they can look it up as to a store that may have one in stock. REI still stuggles with pandemic issues mainly from several ships of containers sitting for months being off loaded to rental warehouses. Stuck with tons of backstock as well as new order stock put REI in a tough position. Why they have plenty of some things, but few from old contracts.
