two parallel universes

one – WPB works in most cases

two – WPB is a scam that doesn’t work

the big thing I’ve noticed is that when I forget to remove insulation, I’ll sweat more and there’ll be condensation inside the WPB

full zipper in front helps to remove excess insulation without having to stop and take it off.  Or pit zips, but I’ve not found those to be very effective

most WPB don’t work very well, polartec neoshell works.  there’s a couple with dry and air in the name mentioned above.

I find that I sweat at some point when hiking in any rain jacket, whether “breathable” or not. I’ve kind of accepted it, though I haven’t tried pit zips. I found a cheap pullover cycling rain jacket on eBay years ago that weighs 5.8 oz for large and I haven’t wet it through yet despite many rainy hikes. Zero breathability through the fabric, but it keeps the outside rain off.

Been thinking about trying the 3F UL poncho.
