After consulting with the gf we went with a REI Bug Hut 2 for the times when we need insect protection as we don’t use hiking poles. We both fit in there and it works nice. Trying to figure out a way to use our poncho tarps as a fly but may have to buy a 8′ x 10′ tarp. Thing is the lightweight tarps of that size are about $100 for about a pound and the cheap ones are close to 2 pounds. We really don’t hike when there is too much rain so maybe an umbrella instead of the poncho tarps and just bring some polycro or a large plastic sheet and tuck it under the ends? Are there any other suggestions people might have?
