I’m currently testing one and thus far I’m very impressed.
What’s it not- rain gear if you’re working a fishing ship; rain gear if you’re planning a long thru hike, backpacking trip where the likelihood of rain is high and sustained; any travel that requires a lot of bushwhacking
What it is- rain gear in a daypack when the forecast is favorable, rain gear in a running vest (anytime), if you commute and are on foot much, even a backpacking trip with a favorable forecast.
I was highly skeptical when I saw the weight. Â But I’ve had it out in about dozen rain events while hiking local single tracks around here. Â The damn thing actually works, despite it’s gossamer fabric.
It packs into a tiny size and even the smallest daypack (maybe even purse!) would have room for it.
I carry a tiny (2 liter) lumbar pack hiking locally and there is plenty of room leftover. Â It’s saved my butt 3-4 times already (once in a almost freak snow storm).
Breathable? Â Not windshirt breathable (at least good windshirt breathable anyways), but better than any hardshell I’ve used.
The hydrostatic head is listed at 20,000 which I think is fairly accurate, MVTR listed at 20,000 as well- which also seems plausible.
This isn’t going to replace your Goretex Pro jacket, but definitely is piece that has it’s place.
