This thread jogged my memory and I pulled out 2 sets of unused BD 50 mm kicker skins if anyone needs some. My post on the gear swap.

I disagree about the skins vs avalanche terrain. On unconsolidated, faceted snow, I need skins by 10 degrees, if not sooner.
Look at any XC trail, no hills steeper than that, yet every uphill has people herringboning.
For me, my fishscale skis grip fine on flat and gentle uphills.
Next step up is kicker skins.
Full length climbing skins would be the next step in grip, I just have never used them on my BC-Nordic skis.
