    @granolagirlak

    I have used Guthook briefly, Avenza maps, and the free version of Gaia. Is there a major difference between the free and the paid subscription to Gaia? I’m not doing a ton of off trail travel these days, but doing quite a few trails that aren’t mapped publicly anywhere. I am getting gpx files from other travelers. I wish I could just use one! but they all have different purposes, just like the backpacks, sleeping bags…

    Another question – anyone know any good geology apps? I really like being able to identify what I’m seeing out there. I have old “roadside geology” guides that were useful in the day. I am kind of a guidebook nut, so I have been trying to find equivalent apps to replace them and be able to use them in the field for verification. The Sierra wildflower apps are great! I have one for Denali, and of course several birding apps. “Someone” should do a comprehensive bibliography of all of these educational nature apps.
