I’ve been in China for the summer, and it has developed that I’ll be doing some mountaineering/hiking in Taiwan and Japan when I leave. I have all my gear, but I have found myself in China with no trekking poles. The French brand Quechua is everywhere, and it has pretty good prices. I typically love Leki poles, but alas there’s nothing I can do. Does anyone know about the integrity of Quechua gear? The poles are pretty light and seem ok, but I know nothing about this brand because we don’t have it in the states as far as I know. I only need the poles for a couple weeks.

The Quechua-brand is BIG overhere (actually it is the hiking/camping-brand of the Decathlon-group). The quality is in general ok e.g. we have a big family sized tent since 2013 and it’s still going strong.
Quality is about on par with Rei or Cabellas.
Like Woubeir has stated, Quecha is big business over here in Europe.
I have mixed experiences with the brand. It’s generally okay for things like clothing and family tents, but I’ve had one really bad experience with their ‘backpacking’-tent.
Also heard stories about their pads delaminating fast and their backpack was probably the worst I ever had.
Then again, I was 16 and had no money whatsoever.
