Possible budget lightweight backpack: 6oz 28l IKEA KNALLA backpack costs $4.

If you’ve ever tried it – what did you think?  I’m guessing at that price it would not be very good.   For example, I don’t see any strap padding.

I’ve seen it in the IKEA store – might make an ok summit pack but I wouldn’t count on it to carry more than a few pounds for very long.  It’s the kind of thing you’d throw in your suitcase to have as a collapsible daypack when traveling.

We keep the Ikea bag in our car; and use it a lot.  It has been very helpful with short hikes or outdoor concerts, etc. We just load it up with provisions we have in the car and take off. For me it proves a little awkard above 8lbs. But it has been great as one of those things that you just leave in the vehicle— to be ready at a moment’s notice.
