Do you just mean Polartec fleece pants? Go to your local military surplus shop:

How about USGI surplus ECWCS level 3 pants? Here’s another link. The newer generations of ECWCS did away with these pants because when it got that cold everyone just wore level 7 anyway, so they’re cheap on the surplus market- don’t pay over $20. But also not a lot were made so they can be hard to find in popular sizes. The level 3 fleece jacket is still issued and costs a lot more.

The ECWCS also uses a lighter grid fleece layer 2 that has tops and pants. They’re much lighter than what you show, though, more like Capilene Midweight. You can just google “level 2 ECWCS.” Unlike the level 3 pants these are popular and still issued, so they aren’t cheap.

Don’t be confused by the layer 1- that’s just a silkweight polypropylene baselayer. And don’t buy the Rothco knockoffs- their only reputation is for shoddy workmanship.

Both of these are Polartec.

Lukes Ultralight might be able to make you some.

Otherwise I am not aware of any.

I own a pair of R1-esque grid bottoms from terrarmar. I think they are ecwcs. I’m specifically looking for the furry thermal pro.

I sent an an email to melanzana since they carry thermal pro already. I don’t want to bother Luke to use a fabric that I couldn’t find on his website.

Yeah, those Terramar pants are sort of like ECWCS level 2. But the the level 3 bib pants are more like what you want.

If you can find mid layer Climashield or other good synthetic filled pants they will be both lighter and warmer than fleece.

I have some old (15 years) Brigade Quartermaster jacket and bibs insulated with Thermolite Micro, They are very warm and good only when temps are near zero F. or below.

For lightness and packability I’d rather have down pants and may soon get some from WM.

If anyone is interested, I was able to order some of the Cabela’s pants linked above from eBay. They are very lofty and they only weigh 10.8oz for a Large. Paired with a 4oz pair of wind pants, I expect these to be toasty. Being a 33×33 normally, these fit me just about perfectly. I was able to make an offer for $45 and it was accepted. I’m very happy with the price and purchase.

I have no affiliation with the seller other than being a happy customer.
