PM problems

I’m not receiving any notifications of PMs, and when replying to a PM I’m unable to attach a photo (the Source box comes up without a “browse” to click on.

Also some of the time when I try to reply to a PM the Visual/Text icons don’t appear above the box where I type in text.

Nothing recieved Jerry. When i check my pm.. i can see it.. but no notification.  Yes that too.  I cant post picture when sending a pm either.

And it looks like there should be some options for this in the account settings, but that section is empty.

Yep. It’s a known problem. We are working on it. It’s been a really tricky one to solve. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

In the mean time, please check your PM inbox from time to time.

I wish I had an answer for you. We have not been able to reproduce any of these reports regarding PM notifications not going out.

My/our suspicion has always been that users may have some kind of overactive spam filtering or a “focused inbox” setting enabled that is “helping” in an unhelpful way.

Anecdotal but I get lots of PMs given my role here and I get notified of each one. There hasn’t ever been a surprise PM where I hadn’t received a notification. It’s definitely not happening to 80% of my PMs.

Perhaps relevant is that I don’t use Gmail/Outlook/etc for my personal email that PM notifications go to. It’s hosted independently. I do use spam filtering but I don’t use any focused inbox helpers.

PM notifications are so similar that it is not surprising they might end up getting filtered as spam.

PM notifications come from [email protected] – Maybe see if you can whitelist that address?

I am on Gmail and have never seen that in my spam folder. I will add that address to my whitelist.

For some years now, I tend to get PM notifications for the first PM in a thread, but not for subsequent ones.  “tend to” – it varies.

The later messages are there if I check for them through BPL and/or if I follow the link in the email about the first PM.

If it’s time critical (trail angel rides or gear loans, etc), best to take the discussion to your email addresses, IMO.

Yes David, this is what I experience as well. Replies to PM’s never show up. When doing Gear Swap I have to constantly check my inbox.
